"She tossed him aside and had already moved on a month after he was gone in the rift!" Lumi exclaimed. If anything seemed 'wrong' it was that. If Rowan and Alecis did get together, Charlie would just move right on and no one would get hurt. "That's...not love."

Lumi had a point. "Do you think she'd do that again?" Alecis asked, worried. If Charlie did that to Rowan again, Alecis didn't know what she would do. The first time nearly killed him, if it happened again how would Rowan react?

"Well, for his sake I hope not...But she might," Lumi replied uncertainly. "I don't see it ending well...But, like I said, love is unpredictable, so there's no way to be sure of anything." She sighed. "Didn't they break up once before that whole thing happened, too?"

Oh, what does that matter? Moxie piped up. You and Quinn broke up twice.

That's true... Lumi frowned. But our situation is different. I mean...REALLY different.

That's true too, Moxie agreed.

"Er... yeah," Alecis said, blushing again. That had been partly her fault. But it was his fault to, yes? Not really, Alecis had been the one to kiss him.

"Oh well, I guess the only thing we can do is hope, right?" If only Rowan could get over Charlie...

"Well, technically you could do more than hope," Lumi said tentatively. She bet that Alecis wasn't the type to actively try and break two people up. "You know, try to get his attention or whatever. I mean, you never know unless you try, right?"

"But how would I do that?" Alecis wondered out loud. "I never see him anymore, he's too busy with Dian, the baby, and Charlie. Plus we don't have meetings anymore."

"You could start the meetings up again," Rheis offered.

It was a good idea, Alecis thought, and Lumi had said it was a good idea too.

"Yeah, you could start those again," Lumi agreed with Rheis. "And there's that Overloridian party thing coming up. You'd have plenty of chances there. And hey, if all else fails, I can take you to his house."

This was exciting. =]

Alecis was actually starting to feel hopeful. But that was bad, bad. No matter what she did, she wasn't even going to have a chance. But Lumi looked excited, did she really not like Charlie that much? Or did she think that Alecis actually had a chance with him?

"That's true," Alecis said slowly, thinking about how amazing it would be if Rowan was with her. How happy she would be, but would he be happy too? Why couldn't she make him happy?

"So, Lumi, are you going to the party?"

"I'm...not entirely sure," Lumi replied honestly. She didn't know if Quinn had believed what she wrote in her note, because she left before he read it. She was pretty sure he wanted to get back together as much as she did, though. "I hope I'm going with...with Quinn. I think he'll invite me."

The only way she could go to the party was to be invited by an Overloridian. It was Overloridians and their dates only.

"You could come with me?" Alecis suggested," I don't have anyone else to invite anyway. And this way, even if he doesn't invite you, you can still go." Alecis smiled at her, it was nice to finally talk to someone.

"Oh, sure," Lumi replied, surprised. It was a nice surprise. Like Alecis said, this way she would be able to go no matter what. "But...if he does invite me...I mean, I hope you understand..." She trailed off awkwardly, feeling bad.

"Oh, yeah. Of course," Alecis was still smiling. "I don't mind. So," she asked, "are you guys together? Or are you just friends?" She just wondered, since Lumi seemed to want him to invite her.

"Well, to be honest, I don't really know," Lumi replied thoughtfully. "I mean, we're definitely more than just friends. And we definitely were together. But right now...it's just so confusing." She shook her head. "It's a long, long story."

"I see, I'm sorry. I know very well just how crazy relationships can be. Even ones where you aren't a couple." Too well she knew them.

"Hey Leci," Rheis interrupted, "it's almost time to pick up Lorrik and Eva, we should probably go."

Alecis suddenly remembered that she had left the two kids at their friends house, she had been so happy to have free time she had forgotten. "He's right," Alecis looked apologetic, "Just send a message or something if you need my invite to get in. Or maybe I'll see you around Dahlin." She smiled, it was nice talking to you again Lumi.

"Yeah, I'll seeya," Lumi replied, waving as Alecis left. She liked Alecis, maybe they could end up good friends. Once Alecis was gone she too started walking again, getting relost in her thoughts.
