happy new year bitch ass! [Lumi.]

Quinn was happy today, for once. He was on a date with Lumi. He was so afraid that they were just going to avoid each other at all costs after that amazing night in the cave. Holding her hand Quinn led Lumi to a table near a window. "What would you like?" he asked her.

Lumi couldn't believe she was on a date with Quinn. There must be something wrong with her.

"An iced mocha frappuccino," she replied, as if she were totally cool about everything. Even though she totally wasn't. She sat down nonchalantly.

Quinn smiled a nodded at her. He left the table and over to the counter. He ordered Lumi's drink, and ordered black coffee. He payed for the drinks and returned to the table. "So," he said to Lumi, "What's it like being Dian?"

"I don't know, I've never been anything else," Lumi replied indifferently, shrugging. She knew he was just trying to break the ice, but it was sort of a dumb question. She figured he wanted to know more about her, so she decided to tell him some random facts."I do like it there though. I'm glad I chose it, when I settled at seventeen. It's the first and only real home I've had."

Quinn nodded while he listened to Lumi talk. Once she finished he said, "I settled at age 16, a little bit after my auntie passed away. I chose to settle as Ughdarraas because my whole family was."

You're being awkward, Quinn.

"But you would have had to choose Ughdarras no matter what, right?" Lumi asked. "You know, Overloridian and all. Did you know I'm an Overloridian's Adviser?" Of course he didn't. They hardly knew anything about each other. How could she love someone she didn't know?

"Yes, yes, that is true," Quinn said stupidly.

He took a sip of his coffee, cleared his throat and said, "An Overloridian's Adviser huh? My adviser was basically Rhiannon. She keeps me in track."

"Really?" Lumi asked with interest. "I thought all Overloridians had Advisers. But I guess it's up to the individual, huh? It's a good thing mine does, cuz otherwise I'd be out of a job. I'm not really qualified to do much else, actually. I guess technically I'm not very qualified to be an Adviser, but I do a pretty good job."

"I think you would be. I wish you were my adviser. You're a very smart woman." Quinn told her.

He took another sip of his coffee.

Lumi smiled. Quinn sure knew how to be charming. "That would be nice," she agreed, thinking about it. It was way too soon to be considering this, but she couldn't help but imagine a future with Quinn. "Maybe someday when I'm no longer needed in Dian."

"That really would be nice," Quinn agreed with a nod and a smile.

Quinn sat and thought of the next thing to say, while he stared at his coffee for a moment. He looked back up at Lumi and asked, "How is your back doing?"

Even thought it was just a little bruising, Quinn still couldn't help but worry for her.

Lumi shrugged. "Fine. I don't even feel it anymore," she assured him. It was sweet of him to worry, but it was also a little annoying. "You really don't have to worry about me, you know. I can handle myself."

"I know you can," Quinn replied, "But that doesn't mean I can't worry about you."

He took another sip of his coffee, then set the cup back on the table. He scratched his forehead, pondered once again, then randomly said, "Lumi, you're so beautiful."

Lumi smiled and blushed slightly. "And you're very handsome," she told him, even though "handsome" was an understatement when it came to describing Quinn. She finished her drink and sucked empty air through her straw.

Quinn got a smug "I know" sort of look on his face, but it only lasted for a couple seconds because he didn't want Lumi to see. He reached out and tucked some of her hair behind her ear and said, "Thank you."
