Fresh Air and Sun! [Aven]

Lucern grinned as he dived in and out of the waves, hair dripping onto his face. Azarath, currently a cougar, lied on a beach towel, staring incredulously as his clio played in the water like a cub.

With a final splash Luce left the water and plopped down beside the golden cat, draping a dripping arm around the daemon. With a hiss and a playful swat the cat admonished the laughing boy.

"You know I hate it when my feet get wet."

"Whatever you lazy bum." Luce quieted and stared around at the clio and daemon's littering the beach. He just loved the beach!

Carefully, Aven stepped around the clio and their daemons enjoying the beautiful day. He was dressed strangely for the weather, in cloth red (think Soffe, think picture below) shorts and a heavy grey sweatshirt that bagged around his thin frame.

Ra slept in the hood soundly, cozy and warm.

Finding a place to lay blanket, Aven did so, flopping his rear down on the woven blanket he'd made himself last summer on a bout of creativity with his hands. He thought about swimming, but then remembered he'd put this sweatshirt on because he had a cold and it felt chilly out there to him.

In the midst of his clio watching, Lucern saw one clio who was wearing warm clothing. Glancing down in confusion at his own clothing, swimming trunks, a brow was raised in a questioning manner. Being of a curious manner, Lucern decided to saunter over.

'You have no shame, do you?'

'You just don't want to move yourself. Com'mere.'

Shifting into a colorful bird, Azarath flew onto Lucern's shoulder, peeping her contentedness.

Aven looked up, noticing a shadow in the precious sunlight that was keeping him warm. A clio was blocking his rays.

"Excuse me," he said, irritably, "can you please move?" Usually he wouldn't be so rude, but he didn't feel good. The poor boy shivered. "I'm trying to keep warm."

He pulled his blanket around him and pouted at the tall clio, pathetically. "I'm sick."

"I'm so sorry! I never meant to block your light. That explains the warm clothes then." Luce muttered the last part to himself as he shifted and ploped onto the ground. He would keep this clio company or maybe even manage to cheer himm up.

"I'm Lucern, or Luce. And my adorable feathered friend is Azarath."

With an angry shriek, Azarath launched herself from Luce's shoulder, changing back to a cat, only this time a black panther.

"I'm NOT adorable. Beautiful, yes, but NEVER adorable." The panther growled, tail lashing as she made sure to settle herself so as to not cast a shadow on the shivering boy next to her.

"How you manage to work up enough energy for hissy fits when you complain about having to walk, I don't know. So, who's light was I blocking?" Luce asked, addressing the sick clio. He had a grin on his face even when Azarath batted his head with a large paw.

'Your claws are still sheathed.' Luce mentally taunted the fuming panther who in turn started to angrily wash her tail.

"So who is it that has the misfortune of being sick during such a fun part of the year?" Luce asked, smiling another heartmelting smile.

"That's okay." He muttered, pulling his clothes and his blankets tighter around him. "Just don't do it again."

'My, my. Someone's upset today.' In truth, Ra was suffering too, because his clio was sick, but not enough to not try and irritate him. 'You're being a real jerk, today, Aven.'

Aven ignored him. He watched the two of them argue, and then he smiled, weakly. "She is beautiful."

"Why thank you." Azarath replied, primly sitting down besides Luce.
"SOME clio at least know beauty when they see it." Giving a pointed glare to the now blandly smiling Luce, Azarath started washing her whiskers.

"I'll make sure I won't do anything. I can tell you're one of those clio who'd rip my bleeding heart out." Luce smiled at his own joke, hoping to cheer up the sick clio.

"So who ARE you?" Luce asked again, determined to find out.

"I wouldn't." Aven shrugged, smiling at the daemon. "I'm Aven. I'm the kid brother of the Overloridian of Solas." He nodded, resting his head on his knees. "I'm not violent. By the way, Azarath, you're welcome."

"Thats why you look familiar. I've seen Lior." Luce smiled contentedly as Azarath settled down to another nap in the warm sand.

"I'm assuming you're solas then?"

"We look nothing alike." Aven said, flatly. "We're only brothers. I love him, but we look nothing at all alike. And yes. I'm Solas. Li taught me everything I know."

Luce straightened up, eyebrows raised, eyes rather irritated.

"I apologize then. It's just theres something there that reminds me of him when I see you. I, personally am unsettled." Luce replied, much more cooly than earlier.

'Now I know who you remind me of when you get offended. You do the same eyebrow thing and the same tone of vice as you're sister. Ranuki.' Azarath commented, rather surprised by Aven's sharp retort as well.

Aven sighed. "I don't feel good. It's probably mom. Everyone tells us we remind them of her. My mom was the prettiest woman alive. So I tend to take that as a compliment. I hope one day that I am as lucky as my dad was in marrying her, so that I find someone like her."

My friend always said that I reminded her of my sister. I only just saw my sister for the first time in years, and I don't really see much resemblance. She's really moody." Luce, who relaxed again, said the last part in a conspiratorial whisper, pretending the fact was a secret.

"Is your sister Ranuki?" Aven remembered meeting her at the Tavern and spending some time with her at the carnival. She was moody. He remembered she was pretty, also, but he didn't know too much about her, and Luce certanly didn't remind him of her. "I don't think you guys are anything alike."

"You know my sister? Isn't she the coolest! She's moody and irritable but a lot of fun when she relaxes!" Luce smiled beatifically. "She didn't use to be moody. Thats dad's influence." Luce scowled, his face darkening into an almost sinister look. "But thats all past now." Luce breathed out sharply before slapping his normal grin on. "so have you met anyone interesting? I like people." Luce added the last part on as anexplanation for his question, green eyes sparkling merrily.

Aven nodded. He didn't feel like answering the question. But, as not to seem rude, he let himself answer the second. "Uh. Charlie and Cray are cool. My best friend's name is Leander. He's my bestie."

Luce digested this information for a minute or two while watching the sea birds circle above the water.

"Do you ever wonder what it's like to fly?"
