Under the sun

*The midday sun beat down upon the dunes, the grains of sand glowing with a warm amber shimmer, blurred by the rising heat waves.*

Niklai sat under the scarce shade of a withered old tree, long dead and bone-dry. Golani rested in her coiled shape a few feet to his right, fondly basking in the warm sun. Niklai twiddled his thumbs, he felt anxious. There was a vast amount of anger in his heart, and he needed to get it out.

"Let's see what unfortunate non-sentient being gets it today..."

Niklai scanned the dunes for anything more than sand. On an adjacent dune a few hundred feet away he spotted a lone bush- small, but apparently quite durable to be able to survive in this hell hole.

"Bingo." He grinned and stood, stretched his arms.

It had been awhile since he had played with his Eilemaiden abilities, and nothing relieved anger more quickly. He concentrated, trying to feel it, the power to control air wasn't exactly a piece of pie. Golani stirred, raised her head to look over at him.

"Just what the heck do you think you're doing?" She inquired, a tone of irritation in her wise voice.

He glanced over at her, entirely unsurprised by her interruption. "What do you think I'm doing, stupid? Just keep sunbathing and let me have my fun."

She hissed indignantly. "Fine. Just be glad you're my Clio and not some stranger, or else I would show you the true strength of a daemon such as myself."

She rested her head once again upon the coils of her body.

Niklai chuckled, nothing amused him more than the bold words of an angry Golani. Now it was time to work. He forced himself to concentrate on the bad, every hint of rage and fury boiling up from his very soul. The air around the targeted bush began to move, a change made apparent by the kicked up sand. Within moments, a small dust devil tornado appeared only a few feet from the bush. Niklai guided it in, and was impressed to see the vicious little cyclone rip the plant into pieces, foliage debris flew every which way.

"Ah, that was a superfab warm-up."

He sat back down beneath the shade of his little dead tree, content for the time being. It amazed him how such a stupid and simple act could so calm him. The phrase "easily amused" rolled through his mind a lot...

It's been a long day, thought Goruhana. All day she had been working. Who knew being Overloridian was so complicated. Everyone needed her. To solve problems, to do this, do that. And the newly found star piece wasn't helping either. She had to of had a million people come to her and inquire about the stupid thing. She was tired of it. She had dropped by the lab today to see if anything new was found, but nothing. She decided to do some research of her own.

As Goruhana and Tel walked on the sand, the sun beat down on Goruhana's skin. She preferred it this way. She felt extra powerful. Tel was pleading with Goruhana to go, that he coudn't take the heat. Goruhana told him to hush and to stop being such a baby.

Goruhana took the stone out of her pocket. As the stone come in contact with her hand she felt power surge through her veins and her pulse quicken. She gasped at the sudden feeling. She closed her eyes and let the power fill her.
