TOO COLD FOR SWIMMING [Quinny]

Sometimes it was nice to take a walk on the beach, even if it was way too cold for swimming. Kyle was pretty much happy doing anything that got her out of the house, and if that meant walking alone on a beach when it's 15 degrees outside, so be it.

She was pretty bundled up due to the below freezing temperature. Walking the beach wasn't quite as fun in the winter because one wasn't likely to see any cute boys with their shirts off this time of year.

Kyle stopped and stared out over the horizon when the sun started to set. It was really pretty. Too bad she didn't have anyone to talk to.

Being Ughdarras freezing waters didn't bother Quinn, so he was swimming under the water, underneath a thickish layer of ice. The water helped him not think, and he needed to not think at the moment. He just focused his thoughts on the water. Quinn sighed, and swan to the surface, creating a hole big enough for his body to fit through.

His head hit the surface and he rested his elbows on the surrounding ice. He sighed back a cry, and rested his head in his arms. He didn't notice the other clio on the beach.

HOLY EXPLETIVE! There was someone swimming out in the SUB ZERO water. They had to be nuts. Or...maybe they were just Ughdarras. That would make sense. Whoever he was, he was attractive. Like, really attractive. It looked like Kyle was getting her shirtless eye candy after all.

"Hellooo!" she called out to him, waving to get his attention.

Quinn looked up at the sound of another clio calling hello. Quinn didn't feel like much talking, but he didn't like being rude. So he put on a fake smile, and waved back.

Being lazy, he made a wave carry him back to the beach to greet the new clio. She was cute! But not as cute as Lumi.

Put those thoughts away!

"Hello there," he said to the new clio.

Kyle looked the man up and down, and got one of those cute little smirks that meant "ur hott and im checkin u out." She didn't even bother pretending she wasn't. What's the point in pretending?

"Hi," she said friendlily, a genuine smile replacing her sly one. "I'm Kyle. What are you doing out there, swimming when it's like two degrees out? I mean I can guess you're Ughdarras, but still."

Quinn could definitely tell that this girl was checking him out. This made Quinn happy for a breif second. He felt, flattered. But it all went away as quickly as it came.

"My name is Quinn, it's nice to meet you Kyle," he replied.

A slight breeze blew, making the water on Quinn's skin a little colder. It felt nice, but he needed to be dry if he wanted to put his clothes back on. So the water driplets began to slowly float off of his body, until he was completely dry.

While drying his self off, he answered Kyle's question, "I love swimming, but swimming in the cold makes swimming better. It take's my mind off of things, and all I focus on is how cold the water is."

Kyle nodded. "Yeah, I came here to take my mind off things too," she replied. She wanted to know what he was trying to take his mind off of, but courtesy overrode curiosity for once and she managed not to ask.

"The beach is a good place to do so isn't it?" Quinn asked her.

He scanned the beach. He had forgotten where he put his clothes.

"You didn't happen to see my clothes lying around anywhere have you?" he asked.

Kyle shrugged. "Nope. Sorry," she replied. She would be disappointed if he put his clothes back on, but nonetheless she looked around a little. "I see something over there," she said, pointing down the beach.

They started walking towards where she pointed. "So, uh," Kyle said nonchalantly. "You said you go swimming to take your mind off things? What kinda things?"

She really wanted to know for some reason. There was no harm in asking; it's not like he had to answer if he didn't want to.

"Just things that you don't want your mind on," Quinn replied, leaving it at that.

Once the two clio got closer to the object in the distance, that found that it was his clothes.

"Ah, good," he said, while he shuffled to his clothes.

He picked up his jeans and stuck one foot inside them, followed by the other foot.

"Pants are nice," he said stupidly.

"Yeah, pants are okay," Kyle laughed. She wasn't sure he was trying to be funny, but he was. He seemed really distracted about something. Maybe he just got dumped. [HAH.] "You seem kinda sad. Is there anything I could do to cheer you up? Within reason, of course?"

Quinn didn't answer her question until he got dressed completey. "Well," he started, "I'm not sure if anything would really cheer me up..."

He sighed, and his brow furrowed. Stupid life.

"But I guess I should cheer up," he said, "I don't want clio's to think I'm a depressed boring old man!"

Quinn must have been really depressed, because he never called his self old.

Kyle made one of those skeptical noises. "You? Old? There is NO WAY you're old," she said incredulously. He had to be in his early twenties. Sure, that was older than her, but it wasn't old. "And I doubt you're boring. You seem interesting to me."

Quinn laughed, for the first time ever since that day in the tavern, "Well, thank you," he said to her, "I guess I'm not old at all, I do feel old."

"So, what Eilemaiden are you?" he asked her, out of curiousity.

"Solas," Kyle replied, snapping her fingers and making a spark. "Not that it matters. I dunno about you, but no one really cares about different Eilemaiden anymore. It's kinda nice."

Quinn nodded in agreement, he didn't care either. "I've never really cared actually. Ever since I settled and became Overloridian, I was, and still am friendly to other clio."

(Notice, he said clio. Not humans. xD)

At first Quinn didn't want to socialize. But now he was glad that he did, this girl was making him a little less sad for once.

"Nowai. You're Overloridian?" Kyle asked interestedly. This guy was a catch. Too bad he was so...distracted. "It's good that you're nice. Amelia needs more nice clio."

Quinn smiled, once more, "You're making my day, Kyle."

She really was though. He needed to be happy, if only for a moment.

"I try," Kyle replied. It felt good to make people feel better, but really she just wanted to know what was wrong. "Maybe if you told me what was wrong I could help you or something," she suggested innocently.

Quinn cringed again, he didn't want to tell her what was wrong. He just met the girl today! He knew she was just trying to be nice, but it was none of her business about what was wrong with Quinn.

I'm a murderer and the woman I love hates me for no reason.

He couldn't tell her that. Especially the part about him being a killer. So instead he tried to change the subject.

"Er, er, uhm, brilliant weather today isn't it?"

It's cold out you idiot.

"It's actually freezing," Kyle pointed out, hiding her annoyance that he kept avoiding the question. She blew some air out of her mouth to show that her breath was visible. "You are one distracted guy."

Quinn could tell that she was annoyed, but so was he.

"I just don't want to discuss my problems with a clio I just met today," he said.

He usually was never this rude, but he couldn't help but do so. He glanced at Kyle, looking apologetic, even though it was her who should have done the apologizing.
